A Nonprofit organization, Concerned Northern Women Forum has raised a vote of no confidence on Hajiya Rabi Saulawa, for elapses and defaulting of the Association constitution, which is illegal and not acceptable.
In a press conference held on Friday,14th December 2023, the Coordinator Hajiya Hafsat Baba said, "We are here to address the multifaceted challenges that have beset the Jami'ayyar Matan Arewa.
Coordinator of the group, Hajiya Hafsat Baba said, the association has a six-decade legacy dedicated to addressing issues affecting Northern Women, Children, Youth, People with Disabilities, PWDs, and fostering Unity among Women across diverse tribes and religions.
"The organization was once a beacon of Unity had languished into dormancy over the years, Necessitating the establishment of a Resuscitation Committee, in six years, this committee valiantly breathed life back into the association, culminating in the Democratic Elections of leadership in 2919, a leadership mandated to serve a four-year single term, She said.
Adding that, the litany of the allegations against the former officials is both distressing and severe.
"The allegations against the former officials are both distressing and severe: AGM meetings were deliberately ignored, suspension of the National treasurer, lack of financial reports and Audits, among others."
However, the narrative according to Hajiya Hafsat Baba takes a regrettable turn as three months later, due to power and personal ambition and avarice, orchestrated an untimely amendment of the association constitution. This act has led to a crisis that currently awaits resolution before the esteemed Federal High Court and the ICPC.
She also added that, during the four years in office, there were no AGM meetings which were deliberately neglected throughout her four-year tenure.
"The association is 60 years old the orphanage is 58 years old and the school which was founded in 1974, according to her, was created by our mothers, as a way to give voice to the voiceless among women in the North as well as empower and support the women educationally, physically, financially, and socially."
Contacting Hajiya Rabi Saulawa, she explained that, since the case is in court she will wait for the final ruling of the Court.
"The matter upon which a press conference was made is under judicial consideration and therefore prohibited from public discussion elsewhere."
"It is in this regard that I will decline any comment on the matter."
