The Church of Cherubim & Seraphim Movement (Christ the King Cathedral) in Kaduna State, Northwestern Nigeria, has bestowed honors upon two distinguished African peace icons.
According to Pastor Dr. Christopher Solomon Maipompo (JP) of the church, the selection of Sheikh (Dr.) Ahmed Gumi and Pastor Dr. Yohanna Buru were a result of their remarkable contributions to humanity and their dedicated efforts toward peace.
Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Gumi and Pastor Dr. Yohanna Buru were recognized as Peace Ambassadors for their unwavering commitment to peace-building in Kaduna State.
"Their efforts in promoting religious tolerance and fostering better understanding have played a significant role in mitigating religious extremism and attacks among adherents of different faith-based organizations."
In response, while receiving the honor in Kaduna church, the two award recipients expressed their gratitude to the Almighty Allah for the honor bestowed upon them.
Pastor Dr. Yohanna Buru and Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Gumi jointly called upon Muslims and Christians to consistently live in peace and harmony with one another.
Pastor Dr. Yohanna Buru appealed to both the state and federal governments to address the prevailing insecurity challenges affecting various sectors of human endeavors.
Sheik Dr. Ahmed thanked the organizers for the recognition and they prayed for peace and stability in the state and county as a whole.
