The Deputy Chairman House Committee On Judiciary and Justice, a member representing Zaria City Constituency in the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Barrister Mahmoud Lawal Ismail has described it as a major achievement for Kaduna State to have 3 Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN)
Barrister Mahmoud Lawal who felicitates with them, said their elevation to the esteemed club of Senior Advocates of Nigeria, is well deserved.
He made the remark in an interview on the sideline of a Dinner and Award Night Reception in honour of the new Senior Advocates Of Nigeria, (Chris Umar, SAN, Attorney General & Commissioner For Justice, Kaduna State- Sule Shu'aibu, SAN, and Ogbeni Biola Oyebanji, SAN) by the Nigeria Bar Association, Kaduna State Branch at the Umaru Yar'Adua Hall.
"We are here to celebrate with them and this, is an achievement to Kaduna State, for the first time in the history of the State to have three Senior Advocates of Nigeria SAN at a time."
The member representing Zaria said the trio have significantly contributed immensely to the growth and development of the legal profession in Kaduna State and Nigeria.
"We are proud of them and we believe strongly that they will use their new status as Senior Advocates of Nigeria to further contribute to the growth and development of the legal profession in Kaduna.”
Barrister Mahmoud Ismail aka 'Bola Ige' advised the new SANs on the need to know that "much is expected" towards mentoring and providing guidance to young practicing lawyers in the state.
"I, therefore commend the new SANs to be deserving of this honour not just in qualifying intellectually for it but to add value to the profession by doing all they can to live by example".
"I want the new SANs and indeed to also consider their role in the legal profession and the society and act with integrity and sincerity".
The lawmaker from Zaria City urged the government to provide facilities for the judiciary in the state.
"Our problem is not training but facilities therefore, the government needs to support them with all they need to perform their functions efficiently and in line with the rule of law."
