Governor Mutfwang Urges NIPSS Participants to Propel Digital Economy for Youth Empowerment

Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has called on participants of the Senior Executive Course (SEC) 46 at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) Kuru to devise practical recommendations fostering a robust digital economy in Nigeria.


Hosting SEC 46 participants at the Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos, Governor Mutfwang emphasized the potential for digital innovation to create employment opportunities for Nigerian youths with requisite digital skills. He lauded the contributions of Nigerian youths to the global digital economy and urged the SEC 46 to explore avenues that would further empower the youth.


Represented by Arc. Samuel Jatau, the Secretary to the Government of the State, Governor Mutfwang commended the theme of SEC 46, "Digital Economy, Youth Empowerment, and Sustainable Job Creation in Nigeria: The Issues, Challenges, and Opportunities," deeming it both relevant and timely. He encouraged participants to leverage Plateau's temperate climate for digital economy and research, harnessing the hospitable population for impactful studies.


The Director General of NIPSS, Kuru, Prof. Ayo Omotayo, represented by the Director of Studies, NIPSS, and Professor of Gender and Development Studies, Oluwafunmilayo Para-Mallam, emphasized the intentional selection of the theme. He noted the global trend of developed countries embracing digital economies and stressed Nigeria's need to catch up. Prof. Omotayo assured that Plateau State would be a significant beneficiary of innovative research, particularly in terms of youth empowerment and sustainable job creation.


The official inauguration of the course is scheduled for next week, presided over by the Minister of Digital Economy. Prof. Omotayo expressed optimism that the SEC's recommendations would propel Nigeria's pursuit of a flourishing digital economy.
