Niger, Nigeria — The Niger State government has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to delivering accessible and high-quality healthcare services to its citizens. Dr. Ibrahim Dangana, the State Commissioner for Primary Healthcare, emphasized this during the official commissioning of the newly renovated Elizabeth Shaba Comprehensive Healthcare Center in Nyikangbe community, Chanchaga Local Government Area.
The facility, which received a significant facelift under the leadership of Hon. Aminu Yakubu Ladan, Chairman of the Chanchaga Local Government Council, now boasts a state-of-the-art laboratory building, an ultrasound machine, comfortable beddings, and other essential medical equipment. Additionally, doctors' residences have been provided to enhance the overall functionality of the center.
Dr. Dangana praised the Chanchaga Local Government Council for its proactive approach in aligning with the vision of the Farmer Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago. The goal is to upgrade all primary healthcare facilities across the 274 wards of the state, ensuring that healthcare services reach every doorstep. The collaboration between the Ministry of Primary Healthcare and the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs will further bolster the facility's effectiveness, meeting the needs and aspirations of the local population, particularly in maternal and child health services.
In a passionate appeal to the community, Dr. Dangana urged residents to take ownership of the revitalized healthcare center. He pledged to establish a Ward Health Development Committee to oversee its operations and to continue providing unwavering support to the Chanchaga Local Government Council in managing all health facilities under its jurisdiction.
Acknowledging the pivotal role played by Farmer Governor Umar Bago, Dr. Dangana expressed gratitude for creating an enabling environment for the revitalization of primary healthcare services across the state. He also encouraged women to prioritize their children's health by ensuring timely immunization.
Earlier in his address, Hon. Aminu Yakubu Ladan, Council Chairman of Chanchaga Local Government, lauded the collaborative efforts that led to this remarkable achievement. The renovated Elizabeth Shaba Comprehensive Healthcare Center stands as a testament to the state's commitment to the well-being of its people.
