GOVERNOR MUTFWANG PAYS TRIBUTE TO PARENTS OF FORMER GOVERNOR JOSHUA DAIRYE

Plateau State Governor, Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has honored Pa Dariye Defwan and Na Kaka Saratu Dariye Defwan, parents of former Governor Joshua Chibi Dariye, who tragically passed away under different circumstances.

Pa Dariye Defwan was abducted from his residence in Horop District of Mushere Chiefdom in Bokkos Local Government Area of the State on June 17, 2020. Despite a ransom of 10 Million naira being paid to the abductors, he was regrettably killed. His wife, Kaka Saratu Dairye, also passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024, after battling a prolonged illness.

In a statement Governor Mutfwang, while offering condolences to Sen. Dariye at the funeral service of his parents in Horop District, Bokkos, highlighted the security challenges faced by the nation. 

He urged both religious and political leaders to work tirelessly towards a united and progressive Plateau, to foster an environment of peace for the prosperity of all.

Reflecting on the exemplary lives led by the deceased, Governor Mutfwang commended their legacy, particularly evident in the achievements of Senator Joshua Chibi Dariye. 

He acknowledged the former Governor's efforts in ensuring his parents received a dignified burial, emphasizing the inevitability of death.

Governor Mutfwang stated his administration's dedication to combating poverty in the state, aiming to bring about prosperity for all citizens. He lauded the deceased for their advocacy against poverty.

Dignitaries present at the funeral included the representative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Security Adviser, former Governor of Taraba State, Rev. Jolly Nyame, Speaker of Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Gabriel Dewan, former Governor of Plateau State, Sen. Simon Lalong, former Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen, the Gbong Gwom Jos, Da Jacob Gyang Buba, as well as Plateau State Government officials led by the SGS, Arc. Samuel Jatau, among others.
