In a proactive move to tackle the rising drug menace in Katsina State, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has hosted a crucial meeting with hotel owners operating within the state.
Held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, the gathering aimed to foster collaboration in curbing illicit drug activities within hotel premises.
Bashir Adamu, NDLEA's Public Relations Officer, and Media & Advocacy in a statement for Katsina State Command provided insights into the meeting's proceedings, emphasizing the agency's proactive approach to combatting drug offenses.
Addressing attendees, State Commander Hassan Sani Abubakar underscored the critical role hotels play as hubs for drug-related crimes. He emphasized NDLEA's unwavering commitment to apprehending offenders and ensuring they face the full force of the law.
Deputy State Commander of Operations and Training, Halilu Hamidu, highlighted the imperative for hoteliers to actively combat drug abuse and trafficking within their establishments.
According to the statement, The initiative stemmed from directives issued by the Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, urging comprehensive engagement with key stakeholders. Additionally, plans were revealed to conduct seminars aimed at equipping hoteliers with essential knowledge on identifying and addressing illicit drug activities.
During an interactive session, participants engaged in fruitful discussions, offering insights, queries, and pledges of support. They commended NDLEA for the initiative and affirmed their readiness to collaborate closely in tackling the scourge of drugs in Katsina State.
