Kaduna Referees Council Holds 1st Annual General Meeting

The Kaduna Referees Council has held its 1st Annual General Meeting, marking a significant milestone in the council’s history. The meeting, which took place on Saturday 27th April, 2024 brought together members of the council, football stakeholders, and dignitaries from across the state.

In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the council, Sani Mohammed (FIFA Rtd.), welcomed attendees and the Financial Statements and Reports for the first year of the council’s tenure were presented.

He expressed gratitude to Almighty God for guiding the council during its first year and condoled with members who lost loved ones during the period under review.

Mohammed highlighted the council’s achievements, including the implementation of its eight-point mandate, which includes accountability, repackaging of members’ personalities, training and re-training, discipline, effective annual registration and examination, fitness tests for referees, recruitment of young referees, collaboration with the Football Association and other stakeholders.

The chairman also recognized and appreciated the council’s sponsors, including Alh. Ahmed Maude, Alh. Tasiu Adamu, Alh. Faisal Abdullahi, Engr. Musa Nimrod, Alh. Aliyu Abdullahi, and Alh. Sabo Babayaro, for their support and contributions.

In his conclusion, Mohammed sought the cooperation and support of all members and stakeholders to enable the council to discharge its duties and meet its set goals and objectives. He emphasized the importance of an open administration, welcoming views, observations, and constructive criticism, and pledged to punish any erring society or member.

The meeting featured presentations from various committees, including the Secretary’s and other officers’ reports, and the appointment of a Council Auditor. The council also set up committees for rectification and approval.

The meeting ended with a vote of thanks to the chairman, Sani Mohammed, and the council’s executives for their selfless service and contributions to the development of referees in Kaduna State.
