The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) is set to confer awards on distinguished Nigerians who have made significant contributions to the sports industry.
The awards ceremony will take place during SWAN’s national Full Council Meeting in Kano, northwest Nigeria, from May 1st to 6th, 2024.
According to Abdulgafar Oladimeji, chairman of the SWAN National Mobilization Committee, preparations are in top gear, and all planned activities will commence as scheduled. The awardees include notable figures such as:
– Rabiu Ali, Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) legend and Kano Pillars captain
– Dr. Ibrahim Galadima, former president of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA)
– Halilu Baba Dantiye, Kano state commissioner of information
– Barau Jubril, deputy senate president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
– Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila, chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports
– Moses Andishu, UK-based businessman and sports consultant
The awards ceremony will be held alongside the SWAN Full Council Meeting in Kano, recognizing the outstanding achievements and contributions of these individuals to the sports industry in Nigeria.”
