The Office of the Special Assistant to the Kaduna State Governor on Sports Matters has condoled with Tijjani Babangida, a former international and Olympian, over the demise of his brother, Ibrahim Babangida, who died in a ghastly accident on the Zaria-Kaduna road.
In a statement signed by the Special Assistant to Governor Uba Sani on Sports Matters, Saidu Idris Dibis, he described Ibrahim's death as a loss not only to the family but also to the football fraternity. "We share your pain at this trial moment of grief and sympathize with your family over its bereavement," the statement said.
On behalf of Governor Uba Sani and football family, Dibis extended condolences and prayed for Allah's forgiveness for the departed soul. As a mark of respect, the SA announced a shift in the kick-off date of Governor Uba Sani's Tribute Cup Competition, which will now commence this Sunday at the Murtala Muhammed Square, Kaduna.
The tournament, aimed at promoting unity and harmony among government agencies, will go ahead as scheduled, but with a somber tone, honoring the memory of Ibrahim Babangida. The government and football enthusiasts alike mourn the loss of a talented individual who left an indelible mark on the sport.
