The Executive Chairman of Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Malam Salihu S. Abubakar, has warned officials selected for the 2024 Hajj exercise to serve pilgrims with the fear of Allah (SWT) and avoid corrupt practices.

Speaking during a meeting with officials and members of the state government's Hajj committee, Malam Salihu emphasized that officials were chosen on merit and must discharge their duties with integrity.

According to a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Board, Yunusa Muhammed, the Chairman commended Governor Uba Sani for giving them a free hand to select competent and experienced personnel.

He warned against collecting bribes or gratification from pilgrims, stating that both are forbidden in Islam. He urged officials to seek their reward from Allah (SWT) and strive to satisfy pilgrims, listening to their complaints and addressing them promptly.

Malam Salihu also cautioned against collecting money for Hadaya (ram slaughter) and emphasized that intending pilgrims should be given bank tellers to make deposits in naira, corresponding to the prevailing exchange rate.

"Any complaint lodged against an official will be thoroughly investigated, and if found wanting, they will be handed over to security agencies for prosecution," he said.

The Chairman pleaded with officials to work assiduously for the success of this year's Hajj exercise, without expecting financial or worldly rewards. He advised first-time pilgrims to learn from experienced officials and serve Kaduna State pilgrims with the fear of Allah (SWT).

Malam Salihu reiterated the agency's commitment to a successful Hajj and urged officials to support them in achieving this goal. He warned that abandoning pilgrims in the Holy Land, as observed in previous exercises, will not be condoned this year.

The officials will be divided into committees based on their competencies, and anyone who feels they cannot add value to the assigned committee should indicate their preferences.

The meeting aimed to ensure a smooth Hajj operation and address any challenges that may arise during the pilgrimage.
