A horrific incident occurred in Marke, Dandamisa Ward, Makarfi local government area of Kaduna State, as unknown gunmen brutally murdered the village head, Malam Kabiru Mohammed, in the early hours of Thursday.
The 30-year-old village head, who was turbaned in 2018, met his untimely demise when the gunmen, suspected to be hired killers, stormed his residence at approximately 12:30 am.
Eyewitnesses reported that the gunmen forced everyone out of the compound and began searching for Malam Kabiru, who was hiding in the ceiling alongside his elder brother, Tukur Mohammed. Unfortunately, the victim was discovered, and slaughtered, and his house set ablaze.
The gunmen spent about an hour in the village, escaping with valuables worth millions of naira.
Councilor Alhaji Aminu Sani Marke, representing Dandamisa Ward, confirmed the incident and expressed his devastation. He revealed that the body of the late village head could not be recovered due to the house being burnt down to ashes.
Efforts to reach the Kaduna State Police Command for a statement on the matter proved unsuccessful. The community is left in shock and mourning, seeking justice for the senseless killing of their beloved village head.
The incident has raised concerns about the escalating violence and insecurity in the region, leaving residents in fear for their safety.
