In a collaborative effort to enhance tax education among Nigerian youths, the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS) and Project Smile for Humanity Foundation have organized a tax clinic for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in Kaduna North Local Government Area.
The event, facilitated by Corp member Comfort Ojo and founder Projectsmile for Humanity Foundation saw the participation of approximately one hundred corp members.
The tax clinic aimed to equip the corp members with essential knowledge on personal income tax, focusing on key areas such as Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE), Direct Assessment (D.A.), the process of applying for a Tax Clearance Certificate (TCC), and the PAY KADUNA platform.
The interactive session included a brain teaser, where five corp members were awarded KADIRS souvenir packages for their correct answers.
Madam Alice stressed the importance of declaring annual income accurately to determine the correct tax amount. She advised Nigerians to pay their taxes regularly to avoid complications when seeking tax clearance for travel or contracts
“You can’t pay more than what you’re earning, and you can’t pay less. It’s always important to declare your income correctly and pay the right amount,” she stated.
She also encouraged prospective business entrepreneurs among the corp members to adhere to tax regulations consistently.
Jamilu Zakari Muhammad expressed KADIRS’ appreciation to the Executive Director of Project Smile for Humanity Foundation for facilitating the opportunity to interact with and educate the corp members.
“We appreciate Project Smile for Humanity Foundation for the opportunity to interact with corp members and impart tax education knowledge to them,” Jamilu Zakari Muhammad added.
He highlighted the significance of the knowledge imparted, noting that it would benefit the corp members in their future endeavors and position them as ambassadors of the service.
Comfort Ojo, the founder of Project Smile for Humanity Foundation, thanked KADIRS for its support and called for continued collaboration to promote tax education.
