Since his election as President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) on June 13, 2017, Engineer Musa Nimrod has spearheaded a transformation in Nigerian volleyball. His leadership has yielded remarkable achievements, solidifying Nigeria's position as a force to be reckoned with in global volleyball.
Early Achievements (2017-2018)
Engineer Nimrod's tenure began with a series of notable accomplishments. In 2018, Nigeria hosted the U-21 Men's Africa Volleyball Nations Cup in Abuja, while the senior women's team participated in the Nations Championship in Cameroon. The country also hosted the Zone 3 CAVB Championship in Lagos for the first time.
International Success (2019-2021)
The NVBF's achievements under Engineer Nimrod's leadership gained momentum in 2019. Nigeria's U-19 team won a gold medal at the African Youth Games in Algiers, Algeria, while the senior women's beach volleyball team qualified for the World Beach Volleyball Championship in Hamburg, Germany. The country also hosted the Zone 3 CAVB Championship in Lagos for the second time.
In 2020, Nigeria participated in its first-ever Snow Volleyball Championship in Brazil. The following year, the country hosted the U-18 Girls and U-19 Boys African Nations Championship in Abuja, with both teams qualifying for the World Championships in Mexico and Iran.
Under Engineer Nimrod's guidance, the NVBF has sustained the Nigeria Volleyball Premier League (NVPL) for seven consecutive years, attracting third-party sponsorship. The federation has also revived the National Division 1 and 2 Volleyball Leagues and organized the President's Beach Volleyball Cup annually for nearly a decade.
Recent achievements include Nigeria's hosting of the African Boys U-19 and Girls U-17 Championship in Abuja, where the country earned a spot in the World Youth Championship. The U-19 Beach Volleyball team participated in the World Youth Championships in Thailand and China, while the female beach volleyball team secured a podium finish at the African Games in Accra, Ghana.
