Darul Ilm Islamic Centre Commissioned in Kaduna, Renamed After President Tinubu

A new Islamic learning centre, Darul Ilm (Centre for Islamic Studies), was officially commissioned in Kaduna on Monday, with the institution renamed in honour of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following a unanimous resolution at the event.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajuddeen, PhD, was represented at the ceremony by the Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Dahiru Liman, who delivered a keynote address on his behalf.

In the speech, Speaker Abbas described the establishment of the centre as a milestone for religious and moral education in Northern Nigeria. He said the centre would serve as a hub for Islamic scholarship, discipline, and community development.

“Darul Ilm is more than a Centre for Islamic Studies—it is a sanctuary for the pursuit of divine knowledge, moral guidance, and spiritual refinement,” the message read. Abbas also stressed the importance of Islamic education in shaping a value-driven society and commended the scholars and visionaries behind the project.

He noted that the House of Representatives under his leadership has continued to support inclusive education and youth empowerment, which aligns with the mission of the new centre.

In a remark at the event, the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, proposed the renaming of the institution in recognition of President Tinubu’s leadership and the support provided by the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS) toward the project.

Rt. Hon. Liman, acting on the Sultan’s suggestion, formally moved a motion for the renaming of the centre to “Bola Ahmed Tinubu Darul Ilm (Centre for Islamic Studies),” which was unanimously supported by attendees.

The ceremony was well attended by Islamic scholars, traditional rulers, government officials, and members of the public. Prayers were offered for the success of the centre and the continued advancement of Islamic education in Nigeria.
