Management Science Reclaims Football Crown in Thrilling KASU Provost Cup





Kaduna, Nigeria - The football pitch at Kaduna State University (KASU) witnessed an electrifying finale as the College of Management Science football team triumphed over the College of Social Science with a resounding 7-1 victory to reclaim their title in the second edition of the Provost of the College of Communication, Management, and Social Sciences Cup 2025.

Management Science showcased exceptional dominance throughout the match, their talented squad delivering a masterclass in attacking football. Among the standout performers was Abdulrazak Abubakar, a product of Simon Ben Academy who gained international experience with the Nigeria Future Eagles in Morocco last year. Abubakar proved his mettle by netting two brilliant goals, contributing significantly to his college's emphatic win.


However, the female football final delivered a different narrative. A moment of brilliance from Blessing in the first half proved decisive, as her well-taken goal secured a 1-0 victory for the Faculty of Social Science over Management Science. This hard-fought win crowned the Faculty of Social Science as the champions of this year's female football event.


Following the exhilarating final matches, Professor Gimba Victor Kyari, the Provost of the Faculty of Communication, Management, and Social Science, expressed his delight at the high level of competition and the talent on display. He was particularly impressed by the female footballers, stating that he witnessed players with the potential to bring pride to KASU in future competitions. Professor Kyari also took the opportunity to encourage the students to maintain a strong focus on their academic pursuits alongside their sporting endeavors, emphasizing the importance of graduating with excellent results.


Professor Simon Katunk, the Director of Sports at Kaduna State University, echoed the Provost's sentiments, highlighting the significance of the annual event in identifying promising athletes who could potentially represent the university at state and national levels.




Several participating athletes, including Kasham Sani, Abubakar Abdulrazak, and Blessing Timothy, expressed their gratitude to the organizers for providing a platform to showcase their abilities. They also conveyed their eagerness to represent Kaduna State University at national sporting events.

Beyond the football finals, the Provost Cup also featured competitions in Badminton, Table Tennis, Scrabble, Chess, and Draft. In these events, the Faculty of Social Science demonstrated their sporting prowess by claiming titles in both the male and female categories. Management Science secured victory in the Ludo event.

Ultimately, the Faculty of Social Science emerged as the overall champions of the second edition of the Provost Cup, amassing an impressive tally of 10 medals, including 8 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze. The Faculty of Management Science secured second place with a total of 5 medals (2 gold, 3 silver), while the Faculty of Communication finished third with 9 medals (6 gold and 3 bronze). The successful conclusion of the Provost Cup underscores the vibrant sporting culture at Kaduna State University and its commitment to fostering both academic and athletic excellence among its students.
