The Director General of the Kaduna State Geographic Information Services (KADGIS), Dr. Bashir Garba Ibrahim, has confirmed the successful resolution of the Eye Centre Mahuta Layout land dispute, fulfilling the directive given by Governor Uba Sani.
Speaking at a ceremony where land titles were officially presented to affected residents, Dr. Bashir emphasized the significance of the resolution, noting that it was one of the cases the governor had specifically instructed KADGIS to address.
He highlighted the overwhelming joy and relief expressed by the community after receiving their land titles, stating, “Today, you saw how happy they are after I presented their land titles.”
By issuing more than 300 land titles, the Kaduna State Government aims to foster stability within the Mahuta community, ensuring that property ownership disputes are conclusively settled. The resolution process also includes addressing claims from individuals who inherited land and resolving tensions between the National Eye Centre management, local landowners, and residents.
“The issue is in three stages, now we have issued land titles to those whose houses were demolished, next is those who claimed to have inherited their lands and others who alleged to have purchased from the land agents,” Dr Bashir Ibrahim explained.
The affected residents welcomed the intervention with enthusiasm, praising Governor Uba Sani’s leadership in ensuring fairness and long-term security for affected homeowners. This move reinforces the government’s commitment to promoting peace and development through effective land management policies.
Representing the ‘Wajen Zama Association,’ Retired Col. Haruna Idris Zaria, praised Governor Uba Sani’s dedication to resolving the land crisis.
He acknowledged the government's commitment to ensuring fairness and stability for affected residents and emphasized the importance of the initiative in fostering peace within the Mahuta community.
The governor's directive seeks to eliminate uncertainty surrounding property ownership while fostering stronger relations between the National Eye Centre, local authorities, and the community.
Those whose houses were demolished expressed relief, describing the intervention as a long-awaited solution to a problem that once seemed insurmountable. They thanked God for giving the governor wisdom and will to resolve the problems.
