The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of the Nigerian Armed Forces, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has been conferred with an Award of Excellence by the Muslim Unity for Communal Works Foundation for his contributions to peace, security and national development.
The ceremony, held at the Asaa Pyramid Hotel, Kaduna, attracted top government officials, religious and traditional leaders, and members of the Armed Forces.
Represented by Hadji Muhammad-Deeni Shehu Usman, Makaman Tudun-Wada, Kaduna, the CDS described the honour as a call to greater service. He pledged continued commitment to peace and unity in Nigeria, stressing that security should not be left to the Armed Forces alone.
“Security is a shared responsibility of the government, traditional institutions, faith leaders and citizens. There is a need for all hands to be on deck to complement the efforts of the Federal Government,” he said.
General Musa also announced a donation of ₦3 million to the foundation, while his classmates from FGC Sokoto Class of 1985 pledged an additional ₦2 million** in his honour.
Chairman of the foundation, Malam Aliyu Abdullahi Goro, said the award was to recognise General Musa’s humility, courage, and professional excellence. He described the CDS as a “security icon of hope” whose leadership continues to inspire confidence nationwide.
