Kaduna State is set to host the 2030 National Sports Festival, marking the third time the state will host the country's biggest domestic sporting competition, after previously hosting in 1977 and 2009. Bayelsa State, on the other hand, will host the 2028 Games, marking its first time hosting the event. The National Sports Commission (NSC) has secured these host states, with Director General Hon Bukola Olopade praising the commitment and readiness of both state governments.
The NSC is revamping and rebranding the National Sports Festival to match international standards, as part of the Renewed Hope Initiative for Nigerian Sports Economy (RHINSE) agenda. The 2025 National Sports Festival in Ogun State was adjudged the best ever, and the commission is raising the bar with upcoming games in Enugu (2026), Bayelsa (2028), and Kaduna (2030) ¹.
