The National President of the Nigeria Union of Teachers NUT, comrade Audu Titus Amba has condemned the abduction of 25 schoolgirls from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State by unknown gun men.
The NUT National President stated this in an interview shortly after NLC’s solidarity visit to the Kebbi State governor, Conrade Dr. Nasir Idris, led by the NLC president, comrade Joe Ajaero.
Conrade Amba who is the number one Teacher in the country, described the incident as a grave assault on humanity and a tragic reminder of Nigeria’s escalating insecurity.
The Kebbi attack occurred on Monday, November 17, 2025, when armed assailants stormed the school, abducting the students and killing both the vice principal and a security guard who were on duty.
The NUT National President after a closed door meeting with Governor Nasir Idris, described the attack as highly saddening, horrifying, and a setback to the growing education sector in the north, extending condolences to the families of the victims.
“We strongly condemn this heinous act of violence, he said.
The NUT calls on the Nigerian government to take immediate and swift action to ensure the safe release of the abducted girls and bring the perpetrators to justice.
NUT, stressed that attacks on schools must be met with zero tolerance, urging authorities to strengthen security around educational institutions and intensify efforts to curb killings, kidnappings and banditry across the country.
Comrade AMBA expressed solidarity with the affected families and the Governor of Kebbi State , comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, and appealed to the international community to support ongoing efforts to safeguard education and prevent future atrocities.
It also encouraged Nigerians to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to relevant security agencies, emphasizing that every life is important and must be protected.
