Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani (CON), has received a major political boost as councillors from the 23 local government areas of the state pledged their unwavering support for his administration’s grassroots development agenda.
The endorsement came on Tuesday when the Forum of Kaduna State Councillors paid a solidarity visit to the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Hon. Sadiq Mamman Lagos, where they affirmed their confidence in the leadership style of Governor Uba Sani and his commitment to inclusive governance.
The councillors, drawn from all the 255 wards of the state, declared their readiness to align with the Senator Uba Sani Support Group (SUSSG), stressing that the governor’s people-oriented policies and reforms at the local government level deserved collective backing.
Speaking on behalf of the forum, Hon Waziri Umar representing Tudun Nupawa, Ward 9, in Kaduna South Local Government, said Governor Uba Sani had demonstrated uncommon commitment to strengthening local governance, empowering elected representatives at the grassroots and ensuring that development reaches every community in the state.
According to him, the Forum distanced themselves from what they described as “self-serving political groups” working against the SUSSG, insisting that such actions run contrary to the interests of the people of Kaduna State and the spirit of unity being promoted by the present administration.
In his response, Hon. Sadiq Mamman Lagos commended the councillors for their show of solidarity and loyalty to the vision of Governor Uba Sani, describing them as critical stakeholders in the delivery of democratic dividends at the ward level.
He disclosed that, as reflected in the 2026 draft budget of the Kaduna State Government, each of the 255 wards in the state would benefit from ₦100 million worth of developmental projects, a move he said underscored Governor Uba Sani’s determination to entrench inclusive growth and equitable development.
The commissioner urged the councillors to remain focused, united and committed to supporting the governor’s reforms, assuring them that the administration would continue to prioritise grassroots development as a cornerstone of its governance agenda.
Hon. Mamman Lagos noted that the Governor Uba Sani administration has deliberately placed local governments at the centre of its development strategy, recognising that sustainable progress can only be achieved when communities are empowered from the bottom up.
He said the ongoing reforms in the local government system were designed to improve transparency, accountability and service delivery at the ward level.
The commissioner further charged the councillors to see themselves as ambassadors of the governor’s vision in their respective communities, urging them to deepen engagement with constituents and ensure that government programmes reflect the real needs of the people.
According to him, effective collaboration between the state government and elected councillors would accelerate development and strengthen public confidence in governance.
Mamman Lagos also assured the forum that his ministry would continue to provide the necessary policy support, guidance and capacity-building initiatives to enable councillors perform optimally.
He reaffirmed that Governor Uba Sani remains committed to strengthening democratic institutions at the grassroots and fostering unity across political and ethnic lines in Kaduna State.
