The Kaduna Multi-Door Courthouse (KDMDC/ADR Centre) has inaugurated a Planning Committee for its 2026 Settlement Week, with a mandate to deliver an expanded edition of the programme aimed at deepening community access to Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) services across Kaduna State.
Director of the Centre, Hon. Dorcas Levy Daniel, who inaugurated the committee at the High Court Complex, Bida Road, Kaduna, charged members to work diligently toward ensuring wider access to justice through mediation and reconciliation. She described Settlement Week as more than a routine event, but a people-focused initiative designed to bring justice closer to communities.
“Settlement Week is more than an event — it is a movement that brings justice closer to the people through mediation, reconciliation, and peaceful resolution,” she said.
As part of preparations for the 2026 edition, the Centre announced plans to decentralise mediation services through pre-event activities in Zaria, Kafanchan, and Saminaka. The main Settlement Week is scheduled to hold in Kaduna from July 27 to July 31, 2026.
The inauguration ceremony drew participation from key stakeholders, partner institutions, accredited mediators, volunteers, and interns. A refresher training session on the Ethics of Mediation was also held during the event and facilitated by Barrister Ruth Wana.
Confirmed media partners for the programme include NTA Kaduna, Fortune TV & Radio, KASU FM, and KSMC, with additional media organisations expected to join the initiative.
The Planning Committee is chaired by Hon. Saadatu Hamma, while Laura Bismarck Emereole will serve as Co-Chair. Five functional sub-committees — Finance, Logistics, Workflow, Welfare, and Media — have been constituted to ensure effective coordination and successful delivery of the programme.
The Kaduna Multi-Door Courthouse reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening partnerships and promoting accessible, affordable, and efficient justice for residents of Kaduna State and beyond. The Centre noted that Settlement Week remains a key platform for reducing court congestion and encouraging amicable dispute resolution through mediation, arbitration, and conciliation.
