Governor Senator Uba Sani has signed three landmark laws aimed at transforming Kaduna State’s energy, agriculture, and climate governance sectors.
The Kaduna State Government says the new legislations will accelerate economic growth, strengthen institutions, and promote sustainable development across the state.
In a statement, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, said the laws include the Kaduna State Electricity Law 2026, the Kaduna State Agricultural Development Fund, known as KADFund Law 2025, and the Kaduna State Climate Change Advisory Board Law 2026.
According to the statement, the Electricity Law establishes the Kaduna State Electricity Regulatory Commission to oversee electricity generation, transmission, distribution, and supply within the state, while creating opportunities for private sector investment and renewable energy development.
The KADFund Law provides a dedicated financing framework to support farmers, cooperatives, and agribusinesses through grants, soft loans, technical assistance, and investments in critical agricultural infrastructure.
The Climate Change Advisory Board Law establishes a state framework for climate action, environmental sustainability, climate finance mobilisation, and the integration of climate considerations into development planning.
Deputy Chief of Staff on Legal and Legislative Matters, Dr. Mustapha Musa, described the laws as a major governance reform package designed to expand energy access, boost agricultural productivity, strengthen climate resilience, and support sustainable economic development.
The state government says the reforms will help strengthen food security, improve living standards, attract investment, and position Kaduna State as a model for innovation and sustainable development.
