The Chairman of the Control Committee, Malam Attahiru Ibrahim, has called on beach volleyball players for the 5th edition of the Star/Open Tour Beach Volleyball to compete with passion, discipline, and respect as a major national tournament kicks off in Kaduna.
Malam Ibrahim reminded the athletes that true victory is measured by character, teamwork, and sportsmanship—not just medals.
The week-long event runs until June 11th and serves as a vital training ground for Nigerian athletes ahead of the World Championship in the Netherlands and the Zone 3 tournament in Badagry.
The Chairman promised absolute fairness and transparency throughout the games, which feature twenty registered teams across the men's, women's, and open categories.
"I assure all participating teams, coaches, and stakeholders that this competition will be conducted with fairness, transparency, and strict adherence to the rules and regulations governing beach volleyball," Ibrahim stated.
He emphasized that the committee has worked in close partnership with technical officials, referees, and the Kaduna State Sport Authorities to ensure a secure, highly professional environment.
Also speaking at the briefing, the Vice Chairman of the Beach Commission, Mrs. Bolcit Amakri, highlighted the struggles facing female athletes in a highly cultural society.
Mrs. Amakri appealed directly to parents to support and release daughters who show athletic passion, assuring them that the NVF utilizes qualified coaches across all levels to guarantee athlete safety, protection, and professional mentorship.
"We live in a cultural society where female athletes are not really given the support that we need to participate fully and showcase our full potential when it comes to national assignments," Mrs. Bolcit said.
Official match play is now underway daily from 3:00 PM at the designated courts in Kaduna.
