Kaduna state Badminton Board Members taking Oaths

Members of the board of Badminton Association Kaduna State have been implored to give them to develop the in the state.

The Chairman of the Association, Alhaji Mohammed Maina gave the charge in his welcome remarks to the inauguration and oath-taking ceremony of the board on Monday, October first, 2022 at the Media Center of Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.

He reminded them that government alone cannot support sports, “we have to work with the private sector to ensure we get something that would be sustainable”.

“But we know that the government is the major funder but we still have to do our best with the private sector to see that we mobilize resources that we can use to support and develop sports” he explained.

Alhaji Maina thanked and appreciated the ministry for the various support in the last tenure and prayed it continues.

After the remark, the chairman administered the oath to the new board members and subsequently, inaugurated them. They include;

  1. Dr. Hassan Ibrahim,
  2. Alhaji Lawal Daura,
  3. Alhaji Baba Mohammed,
  4. Alhaji Zayyanu Baba,
  5. Dr. Yahaya Abdullahi,
  6. Malam Abubakar Suleiman,
  7. Hajiya Hafsat Muhammed,
  8. Adamu Muhammed, and
  9. Shehu Abdullahi as the Media Officer.

Responding on behalf of the inaugurated members, Dr. Hassan Ibrahim noted the efforts of the Kaduna State Government in supporting Para-Badminton, describing the state as the flag bearer in championing the development of Para-Badminton in the country.

He said the effort has enabled the players to get rated high in the world ranking for their performances during the International outings.

“Para-Badminton players have not let us down, they came back with medals when they traveled to Uganda and Spain and it’s unfortunate that they failed to go to Uganda and France recently but pray that government would continue to stand by Badminton”.

Dr. Hassan appealed to the Sports Development Ministry in the state to always provide every opportunity for badminton and support it.
