…. Urge Distinguished Senator Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi to also leave NNPP.
No fewer than ten thousand New Nigeria People’s Party, (NNPP) cutting across the 23 Local Government Areas of Kaduna State have announced the withdraw of their membership from the NNPP, to avoid being dragged into crises of party-leadership with anybody and at any level.
In a statement the former state secretary of the party, Major Yahaya Shinku ( rtd) said after a wide consultation with major concerned stakeholders, members and supporters at all levels in the State, “we unanimously resolved to withdraw our membership from the NNPP, to avoid being dragged into crises of party-leadership with anybody and at any level”.
“The sudden dissolution of the Ward, Local Government and State Executive Committees of the NNPP of Enugu, Ekiti, Kaduna, Katsina, Niger, Rivers and Zamfara States by the National Working Committee of the Party on Friday 28th July, 2023 only came to our knowledge through social media”.
“We have the view that such dissolution of the Ward, Local Government and State Executive Committees involving a total of 7,824 officers in Kaduna State based on mere allegation of anti-party, without affording opportunity for each and every member of the affected Executive Committees to defend himself/herself for the benefit of fair hearing is myopic, irrational and teleguided”.
Major Shinku explained that “we have appointed a 9-man committee to reach out to the NNPP leader in Kaduna State Distinguished Senator Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi to inform him of our collective decision, and to urge him to also withdraw his membership from the party, to make way forward for benefit of all of us in the politics of Kaduna State”.
The statement called on all its supporters in Kaduna State to remain calm and wait further information on the way forward in due time.
In an interview, some of the stakeholders vowed to take the party to court for failure to pay hundreds of members who stood for the party as agents and are yet to receive payment for the Presidential and national elections in the state.
