The 2023 Candidate of the New Nigeria People's Party, (NNPP) in Kaduna State, Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi has announced his resignation from the NNPP.

In a statement on Saturday, 12th August, 2023 which was read by the former state Secretary, Major Yahaya Shinku rtd, Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi attributed his resignation to the confusion trailing the power tussles bordering a gross abuse of powers by the powers that be within the higher echelon of the Party.

The statement partly read, “Having considered the major activities and events trending in the NNPP recently, particularly decisions of the leadership of the NNPP at the Highest levels. Also considering the Confusion trailing the power tussles bordering a gross abuse of powers by the powers that be within the higher echelon of the Party".

"The Clarion calls from different quarters of my esteemed followership, particularly in my dear State of Kaduna".

Senator Hunkuyi who explained that in line with the NNPP Constitution and the Electoral Act, he has communicated his resignation to the party at his ward, thanked his esteemed well-wishers and NNPP followers, "who have reached out to me on the need for this".

"To my esteemed followers who received this decision as unexpected, I say my apologies".
"For those who intend to remain within the fold of the NNPP, I have no issue".

However, in a message to his followers, the one-time Kaduna North Senator welcomed those willing to walk the silky way of Politics along with him and saluted those who felt the decision was wrong, by respecting their opinions.

"We shall communicate to our followership adequately as events unfold with times to come", Hunkuyi added in the statement.

Recall that about two weeks ago, thousands of NNPP supporters and entire state, local, and wards executive members left the party and constituted a nine-man committee to persuade Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi to also relinquish his membership of the party, following the dissolution of seven state executives Kaduna inclusive which generated mass resignation of the party members in Kaduna state.
