In the aftermath of the dissolution of seven states’ Executive Members of the New Nigeria People’s Party, (NNPP) by the national leadership of the party, over Ten thousand members of the party in Kaduna, who withdrew their membership of the party, have generated a series of reactions.
Addressing newsmen, on behalf of concerned Major Stakeholders, Major Yahaya Shinku, (rtd.) said, that the dissolution of the ward, local, and State Executives in Kaduna state based on alleged anti-party Activities and without a fair hearing is irrational.
The stakeholders then discussed and arrived at constituting a 9-man committee to reach out to the NNPP leader in Kaduna State Distinguished Senator Suleiman Othman Hunkuyl to inform him of their collective decision and urge him to also withdraw his membership from the party.
In his response after meeting with the 9-man committee, Senator Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi released a statement, announcing his withdrawal of his membership from the NNPP.
“Having considered the major activities and events trending in the NNPP recently, particularly decisions of the leadership of the NNPP at the Highest levels. Also considering the Confusion trailing the power tussles bordering a gross abuse of powers by the powers that be within the higher echelon of the Party”.
“The Clarion calls from different quarters of my esteemed followership, particularly in my dear State of Kaduna”.
“I humbly, wish to announce my decision to relinquish and withdraw my Membership of the Party”.
News Panorama, an online news medium scoops on the letter, which was addressed to the Hunkuyi Ward Chairman, Kudan Local Government Area, and reads in part;
“This is to officially communicate my decision to withdraw my membership from the New Nigeria Peoples Party”.
“While wishing you all the best, I hereby return my membership Card”.
“Kindly acknowledge receipt of same”.
This development has created a vacuum in the NNPP return state while over ten thousand former members of the party, look towards the direction of their political leader and mentor, Senator Othman Hunkuyi to determine the political sojourn.
But where next is the destination, for the ‘Grassroots Politics Professor’, Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi, already Some political parties have since started courting his membership and that of his followers and high-level consultations going on.
