Fulani Group Calls On Human Rights Commission, Chief of Army Staff To Investigate Killings Of Pastoralists

The Southern Kaduna Fulbe Progressive Union, a Fulani socio-cultural group has appealed to the Commandant Operation Safe Haven Jos to look into the activities of the Operatives of Operation Safe Haven Sector 7 in Kafanchan, for his nonchalant attitude to the plight of Fulani pastoralists in the area.

A statement by the Chairman Southern Kaduna Fulbe Progressive Union, Modibbo Gambo Adam said several attempts to see the Sector 7, Commander, Lt Col. Osueke Andy Uzor were turned down and was alleged that he failed to attend to death cases of pastoralists reported to him.

The statement wondered why the new Sector Commander would abandon the Kaduna State Government-provided lodge to stay in the Throne Room owned by Pastor Emmanuel Kure which made him inaccessible to some people like the pastoralists.

According to the statement two months ago the Fulani lost eighteen lives of innocent people in various attacks and locations.

“Even if we report to the Commander he will just tell us that there is nothing he can do and he cannot allow us to see him, we only talk to him through phone calls”, – It added.

The Southern Kaduna Fulbe Progressive Union SKFPU maintained that it is the responsibility of the security personnel to protect the lives of every innocent individual irrespective of ethnic and religious background.

Modibbo called on the federal and State governments to critically look into the issue of frequent killings of people of Fulani extraction in Southern Kaduna.
