Ensuring optimum playing conditions of the courses and planning and supervising golf competitions, every golf club traditionally organized its Captain’s inaugural tournament to mark an era of new developments for the club.
The Kaduna Golf Club 2023 new Captain’s inaugural tournament featured a mixture of veterans, young and Ladies golf players for the one-day tournament at the 18-hole golf course.
Speaking, after the tee-off by the new Kaduna Golf Club, Ken Nwankwo, His Highness the Agwatyap, Dominic Gambo Yahaya described the weather as good and the players played with enthusiasm.
On his expectations, the royal father said, “Players would return very good scores on the course and prayers would meet goal expectations.
The Agwatyap promised to hold a golf tournament next month.
“I have promised the management that I would take time to organize a tournament next month, that’s October”.
“I would call on Royal fathers to begin to play golf because is a sport that enables you to walk around not to sit in one place”.
Addressing newsmen on the 2023 Captain’s Inaugural tournament, the new club Captain, Ken Nwankwo said the tournament would usher in a new era of innovations and development in the club.
“The inaugural tournament should have come three months ago but we decided to start some development projects and by the grace of God after the tournament, we would complete the small projects” disclosed Ken.
He explained that they had already started fencing the club because of security and the major problem when they took over was the course which was worked upon for the good of the game.
“So that, this club should be able to compete favorably with the best of the golf courses anywhere in the world”.
“I like said, when we come on board, my primary assignment is course, course, course because without course because without course there is no club”.
Mr. Ken revealed that several tournaments are lined up after the inaugural event.
“We have almost finished working on the course and tournaments will come from next month by the next two weeks we will have the Heineken Tournament, then, Maigwari, Epitome, Ladies Open, and so many tournaments coming up”.
