Kaduna State Chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), is calling on the security agencies and the state government to ensure that the killers of Miss Chalya Silas, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Member serving in Kaduna are Arrested and brought to book.
The Association is deeply saddened by the killing of the innocent corp member who was undergoing her national service in Kaduna state and stated that the suspected armed robbers be fished out as a matter of urgency by the relevant authorities.
NAWOJ, in its statement, explains that the death of the slain copper has thrown the nation into a state of deep mourning, while also stating that, it is not enough to direct a manhunt for the killers of Chalya Silas, but for the perpetrators to be apprehended and be seen to be punished accordingly.
The leadership of the Association, in a statement signed by the state Chairperson Fatima Aliyu Mahuta, and the Secretary, Maureen Sheyin further explained that as a nation, we must respect and value human life. " Kaduna NAWOJ is greatly saddened by the reported gruesome killing of Chalya Silas at Barnawa during her regular morning jogging.
"Kaduna NAWOJ strongly condemns this ungodly Act, emphasizing that Government must as part of its responsibilities ensure that justice is done and should deploy everything necessary to unravel the killers.
"Kaduna NAWOJ sincerely commiserates with the family of Chalya Silas," the statement reads.
