APC Plateau State Chapter Condemns PDP's Allegations as Baseless

Zakari Haruna - Kaduna

The All Progressives Congress (APC) of Plateau State has accused the People's Democratic Party (PDP) of projecting its own insecurities and past actions onto the APC.
The APC refutes claims made by the PDP, suggesting that the latter is attempting to deflect attention from its own controversial history in the state.

The APC asserts its commitment to legal and constitutional processes, especially regarding the swearing-in of sixteen members-elect, and calls for an investigation into the PDP's allegations to maintain peace and order.

The party also emphasizes APC's commitment to upholding the rule of law and maintaining maturity in its actions, contrasting this with what it perceives as the PDP's tendency to resort to false alarms and senseless public demonstrations.

The APC however points to past incidents where PDP supporters allegedly breached the peace of the state, highlighting their disregard for the rule of law and democratic principles.

In response to the ongoing impasse regarding the swearing-in of sixteen members-elect, the APC reiterates its determination to ensure their rightful induction into the State House of Assembly through legitimate and constitutional means.

Furthermore, the APC calls on the Conference of Speakers of Nigeria to suspend the current Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Gabriel Dewan, until the sixteen members-elect are sworn in.

The APC commends Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives Dr. Aminu Tajudeen for promptly swearing in the winners of the national assembly elections from Plateau State in compliance with the judgment of the Court of Appeal.

In conclusion, the APC reiterates its stance that the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly should immediately swear in the sixteen members-elect to ensure proper representation for the sixteen state constituencies in the State legislature.
