In a heartfelt statement, Kaduna-born Super Falcons midfielder Halimatu Ayinde expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Abdulrazak Usman, Secretary of the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) in Kaduna State. The news, a significant loss to grassroots sports development, resonates not only in Kaduna but also across the North and the entire nation.
Ayinde, a product of YSFON and a medalist at the KADA GAMES, conveyed her condolences during a visit to the family of the late sports pillar, led by Grace John. Speaking from her club side, FC Rosengard Feminine of Sweden, Ayinde described Usman's demise as a soul-shattering blow to grassroots sports in the state.
"The midfield queen," as Ayinde is known, wished the departed soul a peaceful journey and prayed for Allah's blessings."
She extended condolences to Usman's immediate family, the sports community in Kaduna, especially YSFON, and the State Ministry of Sport led by Professor Benjamin Kumai-Gugong.
Ayinde highlighted Usman's significant impact on grassroots sports, emphasizing the indelible mark he left by nurturing talents.
With tears in her eyes, she described the late YSFON Secretary as a father figure to many Kaduna-based athletes, particularly the YSFON products, such as the Kada Queens.
"Daddy," as Ayinde fondly referred to Usman, played a crucial role in her life, offering guidance, mentoring, and support as a young girl with dreams of playing football in Kaduna.
