The Gombe State Government has expressed its commitment to the federal government's cotton revival initiative, aimed at rejuvenating the cotton industry in Nigeria. Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya made this known during a meeting with a team from Arise Integrated Industrial Platform at the Government House in Gombe.

The Governor commended the federal government's efforts to revitalize the Cotton, Textile, and Garment (CTG) sector and assured of robust support to facilitate cotton revival in Gombe State. He highlighted the state's agricultural potential and its position as a key cotton-producing state, alongside Katsina, Kaduna, and Zamfara.

Governor Inuwa emphasized the importance of collaboration with stakeholders, including the National Cotton Association of Nigeria (NACOTAN), to ensure a holistic approach to revitalizing the cotton value chain. He identified Balanga Local Government and some southern LGAs as pivotal areas for cotton production in the state.

The Governor noted that revamping the cotton industry holds promise for addressing unemployment among Nigerian youths and revitalizing the economy. He pledged continuous encouragement for cotton farming to maximize benefits, citing the establishment of the 1000-hectare Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park and existing ginneries in Gombe State as evidence of the necessary infrastructure to support the resurgence of the CTG sector.

The meeting was attended by top government officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, and Commissioners of Trade, Industry and Tourism, and Agriculture and Animal Husbandry.
