The Transition Committee Chairman of Riyom Local Government Council, Sati Shuwa, has emphasized the significance of cultural festivals in promoting peace, unity, and sustainable development among diverse ethnic groups in Nigeria.
Speaking at the 2024 Nzem Berom, Riyom, and Aboro cultural festival, held at the Government Secondary School, Riyom, Chairman Shuwa described cultural festivals as veritable platforms for fostering unity and strengthening bonds of friendship in society.
The event, attended by dignitaries including the Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Ngo Josephine Piyo, and traditional leaders, showcased the rich cultural heritage of the Berom people. Chairman Shuwa encouraged the preservation and celebration of Berom culture and tradition, recognizing its unique value.
The Council Chairman reiterated his administration's commitment to promoting cultural activities, acknowledging their role in promoting unity and peaceful coexistence among people of diverse cultural backgrounds.
He also expressed gratitude to the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Bar. Caleb Mutfwang, for appointing sons and daughters of Riyom Local Government into various positions in his administration and urged citizens to continue supporting the Governor to enable him to succeed.
The festival featured vibrant traditional attire, music, and dance, celebrating the diversity and richness of Berom culture.
