The Kaduna State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) paid a sympathy visit to the Hon. Commissioner of Sports Development, Prof. Benjamin Gugong in his office, to condole with him over the recent fire incident that ravaged the sports ministry.

Last week, a devastating fire outbreak gutted five offices in the sports ministry and seven in the ministry of justice, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Although the incident is still under investigation, no casualties were reported, but significant losses were incurred in terms of facilities and equipment.

The Commissioner, visibly moved by the show of support, expressed his gratitude to God Almighty for sparing lives, despite the extensive damage to property. He acknowledged the swift response of the fire service and the efforts of his team in containing the blaze.

The SWAN delegation, led by the Chairman, Shehu Abdullahi commiserated with the Commissioner and the entire sports ministry, offering words of encouragement and support during this challenging time.

"We were worried when the news for the fire incident came to us and as critical partner in sport development is only right we come to assess and Sympathize with them", Shehu explained.

They praised the Commissioner's leadership and resilience in the face of adversity.

The visit served as a testament to the strong partnership between the sports ministry and SWAN, fostering a spirit of solidarity and cooperation. Prof. Gugong appreciated the gesture, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in overcoming adversity.
