Persons with special needs in Kaduna State have expressed their appreciation to the state government for promoting inclusion in its free fertilizer distribution initiative. The Special Assistant to Governor Uba Sani on Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), Shamsuddeen Abdullahi, made the commendation during the distribution event organized by the Kaduna State Agricultural Development Agency (KADA) in Kaduna.
Speaking at the event, Shamsuddeen Abdullahi thanked KADA for prioritizing the needs of persons with disabilities by ensuring their inclusion as beneficiaries in the fertilizer distribution program. He noted that such proactive efforts underscore the commitment of the Kaduna State Government to foster an inclusive society where everyone, regardless of their physical condition, has access to critical resources.
Abdullahi further urged other ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) in the state to emulate KADA’s approach by integrating persons with disabilities into their programs and initiatives. According to him, inclusive policies are vital for achieving social equity and ensuring that no one is left behind in the development agenda of Kaduna State.
He emphasized that such efforts would not only empower PWDs but also contribute to overall societal growth and cohesion.
In a separate interview, one of the beneficiaries, who also serves as the Secretary of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities, Garba Abdullahi, highlighted the unique challenges faced by PWDs in accessing agricultural inputs and other resources. He advocated for the establishment of a centralized and special center dedicated to addressing the peculiar needs of persons with disabilities in the state.
Garba Abdullahi expressed gratitude to the state government for its inclusive policies but emphasized the importance of sustainable solutions tailored to PWDs’ specific needs. He called on stakeholders to support the establishment of such centers, which would streamline service delivery and enhance the participation of persons with disabilities in agricultural and other developmental programs.
The General Manager of KADA, Muhammed Riilli, also spoke on the significance of the initiative. He explained that a specific day was dedicated to the distribution of fertilizers to PWDs to ensure that their challenges were adequately addressed. This, he said, aligns with the agency’s commitment to equitable service delivery and inclusivity.
Represented by his Special Assistant, Abubakar Garba, the General Manager advised the beneficiaries to make effective use of the fertilizer to boost agricultural productivity and contribute to food security in the state. He reassured them of KADA’s continued support in facilitating access to KADA’s programs that would empower PWDs economically and socially.
Additionally, the redemption center supervisor, Lami Steven, revealed that over a thousand PWDs, both male and female, were registered to benefit from the free fertilizer distribution exercise. She stressed the meticulous planning involved in ensuring that beneficiaries were adequately captured and served.

Steven further commended the beneficiaries for their patience and cooperation during the exercise, noting that the distribution program was not only about providing fertilizers but also about acknowledging the vital role PWDs play in agricultural development. She reiterated the agency’s commitment to making future initiatives even more inclusive and impactful.
