The Motion Picture Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MOPPAN) has elected Maikudi Umar (Cash Man) as its national president.
The election was held at the association's event in Nasarawa State.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected national president of MOPPAN expressed his desire for Kannywood and Nollywood to collaborate and explore potential partnerships that will benefit the film industry as a whole.
"Let's work together to drive growth and development in the sector," he said.
Comrade Umar stated that his mission is to collaborate with major stakeholders to train potential filmmakers on the art of filmmaking, especially on how to monetize their work on platforms like YouTube, iTunes, Twitter, and Instagram.
The president also wants to bring in experts to train filmmakers on cinematography, sound, and lighting.
According to Maikudi Umar, he is exploring collaborating with world embassies for technical support on how to write scripts that meet world standards.
He appealed to professionals to feel free to reach out and discuss potential collaborations and partnerships.
