Governor Uba Sani Pledges ₦20 Million to Veterans, Declares Kaduna State the "Heartbeat" of National Defense

 






KADUNA – Governor Uba Sani has officially launched the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Emblem in Kaduna, reaffirming the state’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s military. Highlighting the state’s strategic importance, the Governor announced a ₦20 million donation to support veterans and the families of fallen heroes, while calling on corporate entities and individuals to contribute generously.


Kaduna: The Foundational Pillar of Defense


In his keynote address, Governor Sani emphasized that Kaduna State is more than just a home to military institutions; it is the "heartbeat of the Nigerian security framework". He noted that the land has nurtured generations of soldiers who have upheld the nation's unity and sovereignty.

The Governor listed several critical institutions that form the backbone of national defense located within the state:

 * Nigerian Defense Academy (NDA), Kaduna.

 * Depot Nigerian Army, Zaria.

 * Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji.

 * Nigerian Army School of Infantry.

 * Nigerian Air Force Base, Mandu.

 * Nigerian Navy School of Armament Technology.

 * Defense Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON).


Honoring Sacrifice and Supporting the Living


Reflecting on the themes of courage and patriotism, Sani stated that honoring heroes must go beyond symbolic gestures. "Behind each fallen soldier stands a family—widows, children, and parents whose lives are forever changed by sacrifice," he said. He underscored the government’s moral obligation to ensure these families are not forgotten.

The Governor also paid tribute to personnel currently on the front lines, acknowledging those battling terrorism, banditry, and insurgency. He stressed that the maintenance of peace requires unwavering commitment and active public support for those in uniform.

Calls for Dialogue and Sustainable Peace

Governor Sani highlighted that the primary goal of security is to protect human dignity. He advocated for dialogue and conflict prevention as central pillars of security, noting that sustainable peace is essential for community development.


A Renewed Sense of Security


Following the Governor’s address, security leaders and state officials expressed gratitude for the administration's support. 

The ceremony concluded with the official launch of the emblem appeal fund, intended to provide a lifeline for those who served the nation.
