Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has called on citizens to embrace the virtues of sacrifice, compassion, unity, and peaceful coexistence as Muslims across Nigeria and the world celebrate Eid el-Kabir.
In a statement marking the Islamic festival, Governor Uba Sani described Eid el-Kabir as a sacred season of spiritual reflection, obedience to Allah, and renewed commitment to humanity. He said the celebration commemorates the unwavering faith and submission of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) to the will of Allah, describing it as one of the greatest examples of devotion in human history.
The governor noted that beyond the ritual sacrifice associated with the festival, Eid el-Kabir symbolises the triumph of faith, compassion, sincerity, and selflessness. Quoting Qur’an 22:37, he stressed that what truly reaches Allah is not the meat or blood of sacrifices, but the piety and purity of believers’ intentions.
Governor Uba Sani urged residents of Kaduna State to use the occasion to support the less privileged, comfort those facing hardship, and strengthen the bonds of kindness and neighbourliness within communities.
“At a time when many families are facing economic and social challenges, the lessons of Eid are even more relevant. We must deepen our humanity and ensure that no member of society is left behind,” he stated.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to policies and programmes aimed at improving the welfare of citizens through investments in education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, youth empowerment, social protection, and economic development.
He also commended the people of Kaduna State for what he described as their resilience, maturity, and commitment to peace, adding that the state’s diversity remains one of its greatest strengths.
Governor Uba Sani called on citizens to reject division, intolerance, and violence, while promoting mutual respect and understanding among different communities.
He further urged residents to pray for lasting peace, security, stability, and prosperity in Kaduna State and Nigeria as they celebrate with family and loved ones.
The governor prayed for Allah’s acceptance of the prayers, sacrifices, and acts of charity offered during the Eid season, and wished Muslims a peaceful and joyous Eid celebration.
