Katuka FC defeated Juventus FC by two goals to nil in the final match of the Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal Tournament, in an exciting derby encounter that thrilled spectators and match officials alike.

The final was held at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Speaking during the presentation of the trophy to the winning team, Honourable Mustafa Salisu Musa Kainuwa pledged to organise a “Sallah Rago Cup” aimed at promoting fun and entertainment during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

Dan Maiki also reaffirmed his commitment to supporting youth-oriented activities to help steer young people away from drug abuse and other social vices.

“As an ex-football player and football lover, it is my ambition to continue organising tournaments like this from time to time to help develop the talents of our home-based players and prepare them for greater opportunities and challenges,” he said.

Chairman of the Organising Committee, Ahmed Abdullahi Kwanti, said the competition was designed to promote unity and discover hidden football talents across villages, towns and communities in the state.

He commended the founder of the tournament for his dedication, sacrifices and commitment towards promoting football development in local communities.

Kwanti also called on other politicians and stakeholders to emulate the gesture by supporting sports development and youth engagement programmes across the state.
