The Campaign Council of Rt. Hon. Yusuf Ibrahim Zailani has rejected the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone, alleging that no valid primary election was conducted across the seven local government areas in the zone.
In a statement issued in Kaduna, the council expressed appreciation to supporters, party faithful, stakeholders, and well-wishers for what it described as an overwhelming turnout and unwavering support during the primary election scheduled for May 18, 2026, which it claimed did not hold.
The council commended supporters for their peaceful conduct, loyalty, and resilience despite the circumstances surrounding the exercise.
According to the statement, the massive support demonstrated across the seven local government areas reaffirmed the strength of the movement and the confidence of the people in the leadership and vision of the former Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly.
The campaign council, however, alleged that the exercise fell short of acceptable democratic standards and internal party procedures expected of the APC.
It stated that party members reportedly gathered at various ward offices across Kaduna Central Senatorial District and waited for several hours without sighting election materials or officials to conduct the exercise.
The council further argued that the purported primary election failed to comply with standards stipulated by the APC National Working Committee, describing the process as lacking transparency and credibility.
“The said announcement of results raises serious questions about the integrity of the exercise,” the statement said.
Consequently, the council declared its total rejection of the outcome announced for the Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone primary election, insisting that the result did not reflect the will of APC members in the district.
The campaign organisation called on the APC National Working Committee, the APC Electoral Committee for Kaduna State, and other relevant party organs to urgently investigate the alleged irregularities and address what it termed a flawed process.
It also appealed for redress in line with party guidelines and democratic principles.
While urging supporters to remain calm and law-abiding, the council assured party members that it would pursue all available constitutional and internal party mechanisms to seek justice.
The statement reaffirmed the council’s commitment to internal democracy, warning that it would not remain silent while, according to it, “the will of the people is subverted.”
It expressed confidence that the leadership of the APC would act swiftly to protect the integrity of the party and ensure fairness in the conduct of its affairs.
