ABUJA — The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), OFR, has pledged total dedication to his new assignment as Secretary I of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general election.
General Musa, in a statement issued on Monday, August 24, expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the leadership of the APC for the confidence reposed in him through the appointment.
The Minister described the responsibility as a call to higher service, assuring the party leadership, stakeholders and supporters across the country that he would discharge the duties of the office with diligence, administrative rigour and commitment towards achieving the party's electoral objectives.
He, however, stressed that his political assignment would not detract from his constitutional responsibility as Minister of Defence, particularly the protection of Nigeria's territorial integrity and the lives and property of citizens.
“National security remains our highest imperative,” the Minister stated, adding that ongoing military operations, strategic reforms and inter-agency collaborations within the defence sector would continue unabated.
General Musa also reaffirmed his commitment to supporting President Tinubu's vision of a safe and prosperous Nigeria, while ensuring that the mandate of the Ministry of Defence remains firmly prioritised.
He called on APC members and patriotic Nigerians to remain united behind the administration, expressing confidence that the party would record success at the 2027 polls while continuing to deliver effective governance and security across the country.
