Traditional rulers, government officials and residents thronged the Jamaa Emirate on Saturday as the council organised a colourful reception to celebrate the appointment of one of its own, Alhaji Gambo Musa Ilallah, as the Accountant General of Kaduna State.
The event, marked by cultural dances and award presentations, drew dignitaries from across Southern Kaduna, all eager to honour a son of the soil now entrusted with managing the state's finances.
Governor Uba Sani, represented by his deputy, Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, set the tone for the celebration, describing the new Accountant General as a committed and dedicated civil servant whose elevation was earned strictly on merit and a solid track record.
The Governor charged him to bring his wealth of experience to bear in fostering peace, unity and development across the state, and challenged him, as a seasoned professional, to design strategies that would boost Kaduna's economic fortunes.
Chairing the occasion, the Commissioner for Finance, Hon Ibrahim Tanko Muhammed, echoed similar sentiments, hailing Alhaji Gambo Musa as a man of proven integrity whose appointment reflected that character.
He urged him to channel his depth of experience into strengthening the state's finance sector, while commending the Emir and the entire Jamaa Emirate for hosting such a warm and befitting reception.
For the Emir of Jamaa, Alhaji Muhammadu Isa Muhammadu, the appointment carried a symbolic weight far beyond one man's career.
He thanked Governor Uba Sani for the gesture, describing it as an honour not just for the new Accountant General but for the whole of Southern Kaduna.
The monarch called on residents of the region to rally round Alhaji Gambo Musa with the support and counsel he would need to excel in the demanding role.
Visibly moved by the outpouring of goodwill, Alhaji Gambo Musa Ilallah thanked God and Governor Uba Sani for the confidence reposed in him as the state's chief financial manager, vowing to justify the trust placed in his hands.
He equally paid tribute to the Emir and the people of Jamaa and Southern Kaduna at large, describing the reception as a source of motivation that would spur him to serve the state with diligence and dedication.
