Changing the narrative was the focus when Kaduna Polo Club’s Executive Management Committee, (EMC) met with members of the media, 23rd Monday, October 2023, and with less than a week to the Kaduna International Tournament, the purposeful leadership of the Polo Club starts to tell their stories and ensure the right narrative is placed out there.

Hence, it held a media parley to conduct a postmortem review of media coverage as well as challenges, where a trailblazing solution was discussed.

The Tournament Manager, Atiku Abubakar Saleh, Baraden Maru, begins by appreciating the media for their contributions to the successes of the previous tournament and expresses the readiness of the new EMC to improve on previous milestones.

He urged the Media to bring more commitment into their reportage for the promotion of the unique event.
Baraden Maru further canvassed for a sustained relationship, especially with the recent EMC of a new helmsman, Muhammed Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida.

Speaking on behalf of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, the number one Sports Writer in the country, Ishaiah Benjamin explained that access to elaborate information, space for coverage (Seats), kits to help promote the event, and security were discussed and agreed.

In an interaction with EMC President Muhammed Babangida, said the Polo field upgrade has attracted a lot of teams to indicate interest in participating in the tournament this year.

“So, we are looking for a full and exciting tournament, where we will showcase the improvement that we have done to the clubhouse, to the field facility, and the new board in trying to bring back Kaduna Polo Club back to its full standing in Nigeria because is a premier club, that everyone in the past use to look forward to attending”.

On his expectations for the tournament, Muhammed said he expects all stakeholders to participate fully on or off the field.
He however pleads with sponsors, to continue to lend hands to support the activities of the Polo Club to bring Kaduna back to its rightful position.
“We expect a high number of teams and overall we expect a successful and hitch-free tournament”.
