President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday appointed Alhaji Jalal Ahmad Arabi as the new Chairman and Chief Executive of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON). His appointment takes effect from Tuesday, October 17, 2023. His appointment followed the sack of Zikirullah Kunle Hassan and his board.
Here are some facts about the new NAHCON chief;
1. Alhaji Arabi was born on October 28, 1962, in Jos, Plateau state
2. He hails from Gombe State.
3. He obtained a Law degree, LLB (Hons) from the University of Jos in 1983.
4. He was at the Council of Legal Education, Lagos, where he bagged his BL in 1984.
5. In 1985, he started his career at the Ministry of Justice, Bauchi state as a State Counsel.
6. He transferred to the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources as a Legal Officer and Personal Assistant to the minister in 1990.
7. In May 1993, Alhaji Arabi moved to the OSGF as Legal Adviser to SGF.
8. He was appointed a Permanent Secretary in, the State House in 2015.
9. He is a recipient of the national award of the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).
10. The new NAHCON attended courses in Paris, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Germany, among others.
