The wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hajiya Fatima Abbas Tajuddeen, has launched an initiative aimed at mobilising 100,000 women voters in support of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The initiative, launched in Zaria under the Tinubu/UBA/Abbas Support Groups (TUA), is designed to canvass support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani and Speaker Tajuddeen Abbas.
The launch attracted prominent APC women leaders and supporters from wards across the Kaduna North Senatorial Zone.
Speaking at the event, Hajiya Fatima said the initiative was part of a broader grassroots mobilisation strategy to secure at least 100,000 women votes for the APC in the Zaria Federal Constituency during the 2027 elections.
She described women as a critical constituency in the electoral process, stressing that their active participation and support would be crucial to the party's success.
She explained that women would be identified and mobilised across the various wards in Zaria Local Government Area and surrounding communities.
According to her, the initiative will also incorporate empowerment programmes and welfare support aimed at improving the livelihoods of women while strengthening grassroots engagement.
Several women leaders who attended the launch pledged their support for the initiative and commended Hajiya Fatima for what they described as her commitment to women's empowerment and grassroots mobilisation.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Zaria Local Government Area, Engr. Jamilu Ahmad Mohammed, commended Hajiya Fatima for the initiative, describing her as a woman passionate about the development and empowerment of women.
He said the mobilisation drive for Tinubu, Uba Sani and Abbas would contribute significantly to the APC's electoral prospects in the 2027 elections.
As part of the programme, empowerment materials were distributed to women leaders across the various wards, with organisers saying the gesture was intended to encourage continued grassroots mobilisation and support for the APC leadership.
The event was attended by members of the Kaduna State House of Assembly representing constituencies in Zaria, aides to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Abbas Tajuddeen, APC candidates, party leaders and representatives of various support groups.
